Conservation Fund (SCF) &
Sahelo-Saharan Interest Group
- In 2000, creation of SSIG: Sahelo-Saharan Interst Group
Representatives from : AZA, EAZA, WWF, IUCN Specialists Group (Antelope
Specialisty Group, Reintroduction Specialist Group, Conservation Breeding
Specialist Group ) and UNEP (Secretariat for the Convention on Migratory
Species).
- Zoos and Conservation Organisations must unite in a common effort to
conserve and / or re-establish viable populations of aridlands antelopes in
nature.
- An aridlands antelope Interest Group could combine collective strenghts
to :
- support ongoing aridlands antelope conservation programs;
- examine the potebtial for new projects and initiatives;
- provide technical and financial support as welle as animals for existing
and future re-introduction programs
