Staff and collaborators of the Conservation Biology Section have conducted field work and conservation evaluations in several geographical areas, particularly within the European Union, but also elsewhere in the western Palaearctic region, in South America, Africa and the southern seas. The data and documents collected, although primarily related to groups of organisms and types of natural habitats, can usefully be considered from a geographical point of view, as a contribution to the requirements of regional conservation policies. This index is intended to facilitate such a utilisation; it is under development, with first emphasis on areas for which an ensemble of species-, site-, habitat-, or process-related studies is available.
