Annotated List of the Mammals of the Brussels Region. Appendix 4
Mammals of the Brussels Region: Distribution Maps.
Distribution maps of mammals of the Brussels Region showing presence-absence data in 1 km x 1 km cells of a UTM grid. A dot in a square indicates at least one post-1980 record within the square. Border squares are marked as occupied only if records exist for the part of the square that lies within the political boundaries of the Brussels Region. The maps are mostly based on information gathered since 1997 in the course of monitoring projects conducted in cooperation with the Brussels Institute for Environmental Management and with its support. The corresponding detailed data can be consulted online within the MAMMIBRU database presentation. A small number of square registrations are based on published records, obtained from the publications listed in the annotated list, or on specimens in the collections of the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences. Scientific nomenclature in the index of maps below follows A world list of mammalian species (Corbet & Hill, 1986, London, British Museum). English, French, Dutch and German names are borrowed from The atlas of European mammals (Mitchell-Jones, et. al., 1999, London, Academic Press and Poyser), Mammals of Britain and Europe (MacDonald & Barrett, 1993, London, Collins), Mammifères de la Suisse (Hausser, et al., 1995, Basel, Birkhäuser), Atlas van de Nederlandse zoogdieren (Broekhuizen et al., 1992, Utrecht, Koninklijke Nederlandse Natuurhistorische Vereniging).
